My guess is that modern animated movies are the products not of anyone's individual vision, but rather a scattered accumulation of compromises made out of fear by members of large committees.

Awakenings
When I exited the bathroom wearing only a pair of boxers, a tee-shirt that had an EC comics logo and a pair of sandals that I had not yet bothered removing (It had been a sunny day). I had a moment where I thought I resembled how a more contemporary Jesus Christ would look.
I even felt more spiritually aware at that moment; like a load had been lessened.
A pair of sandals and some naked legs will do that for you (Note: you need to see well above the knee, so remove your cargo shorts or other type of clothing for proper effect)
Sic faciunt omnes

Manga Farming
Tokyo-based artist Koshi Kawachi recently demonstrated his “Manga Farming” technique — which uses old manga as a growing medium for vegetables — by cultivating a crop of radish sprouts in an installation at the Matsuzakaya department store in Nagoya.

Test colour
This is a version of a younger Das from my comic UXB.
As this is is from a flashback sequence I wanted to pull back a little on spotting the blacks and keep it more in outline, allowing me to make it a little lighter in tone by working in the colour.
I had hoped that a friend was going to work up the colours, but sadly she got a little too busy to commit. It does however give me a chance to play around with photoshop and try to upgrade my skillset somewhat...

The Most Dangerous Game
The only time I had heard mention of this movie was when it was referenced in the plot of David Fincher's brilliant Zodiac(2007)which I have blabbed about a few times before on the blog.
"I like killing people because it is so much fun. It is more fun than killing wild game in the forest because man is the most dangerous animal of all."
Quote from a decoded message sent by the Zodiac killer
This is one of the cryptograms that Zodiac included in his letters to the press which many believe is a direct reference to "The Most Dangerous Game," a short story (and 1932 film) about a mad Count who grows tired of hunting animals and begins to stalk human prey.
I was reminded of this movie by Igloo's latest post which you can view here (well worth the read) and saves me the trouble of reviewing it.
It stars Joel McCrea(Foreign Correspondent) Fay Wray and Robert Armstrong. It was made by a team including Ernest B. Schoedsack and Merian C. Cooper, the co-directors of King Kong (1933).
You can also watch it here: www.archive.org/details/TheMostDangerousGame

Dr Who?
The 11th you twat!
As my son wasn't feeling too great and decided to go to bed early I had to postpone our viewing of the latest incarnation of the Doctor (One of the few things we will sit and watch together- well that and Flight of the Conchords) I do have high hopes for the series now that Steven Moffat has taken the reins.
So until I do get to see it, here is a doodle of a young Stephen Fry/Morrissey/...Matt Smith.

Ten Years
It is now ten years since I first arrived in Vancouver.
Ten years!
It was back in March of 2000 that I took my flight from Dublin, destined for the shores of Canada. Originally I was brought over to work with an animation company on a years visa; that job didn't quite work out as well as I had planned so I resigned after five months while having already taken another job in Luxembourg. Then I was informed that the Luxembourg gig had been reduced from a years contract to a mere couple of months...wonderful!! During all this I had sent a bunch of resumes and some portfolio work to a few other local companies in Vancouver in the hope that one might bite. I was contacted by a games company who subsequently renewed my visa and contracted me for what ended up becoming three years. So with being kept busy and enjoying how the Canadians say "Eh!" quite a lot I decided to take root in Canada and well, here I am -- a whole ten years later!
To be honest I find it hard to believe how the time has just seemingly flown by. It feels like I literally, just stepped off the plane.
Anyhow, here's a monkey (I drew earlier)giving you dear reader the proverbial finger. Please in a similar fashion raise your finger to your monitor in an act of joyous celebration.

C'mon "Show me the finger!!"
