DAISY

I thought I'd take some time out to let you all know about my latest comicbook DAISY. Published through Dark Horse Comics, the first issue of five was released last week and I've been overwhelmed by the response to it. What's it about you ask? Well...let me give you a brief overview to help wet your appetite.

A desperate mother's five-year search for her missing son leads her to the small town of Brimount and to the mysterious Phillips family. Daisy Phillips, like many teenagers, has a hard time fitting in, but not for the usual reasons. Daisy stands eight-and-a-half feet tall and is still growing, but her troubles with ill health, daily ridicule, and custom-made clothing are only the tip of the iceberg. Daisy may well be descended from a race of cannibalistic giants spawned from the outcasts of Heaven!

I hope you'll consider giving it a shot!

Cheers!

The Hunt Figurine.

Sculptor Conor McMullin gifted me this wonderful figurine based on the cover of THE HUNT #1. It's without a doubt one of the coolest things anyone has ever given me.

You can check out his entire process that he documented in great detail over here: https://www.behance.net/gallery/48237253/Sculpting-the-Hunt-Figurine

THE HUNT MINISERIES FINALE.

As 2016 draws to a close so did THE HUNT miniseries with the final issue having hit the stores on the 21st December. Due to this, I've decided to pop up the entire first issue in celebration of it's completion.

I couldn't be more pleased with how it all came together and delighted with the reception it received. It garnered quite a dedicated fanbase and following and I want to thank everyone who reached out to us with a kind word in their support of the book. Thanks also to the various comicbook retailers who gave their support (Forbidden Planet, Big Bang Comics in Dublin, and my local shop here in Vancouver, Golden Age Collectables... to name but a few) and to my friends and family who kept me focused and somewhat 'sane' while obsessing over this project for the good part of a year.

The book wouldn't exist without the participation of my partners-in-crime: Joana Lafuente and Jim Campbell. Their combined talents raised the bar at every turn and made for a very easy and pleasurable collaboration. And, of course, a sincere thank you to my publisher Jim Valentino at Image/Shadowline for having faith in both me and the project and for actually getting the book out there into the world.

I loved writing these characters and hope to return to the world of THE HUNT at some stage.
I feel like we've only just scratched the surface...

Cheers!

THE HUNT SOLICIT #1

This may very well be a career high for me.

Not only am I getting to create, write, and draw a horror book that is set in Ireland and deal with subject matter that I've always had a deep connection and fascination with, but I'm also lucky enough to be having it published through Image Comics; this is the same company that publishes The Walking Dead, Saga, Southern Bastards and a number of other amazing titles. Not too shabby.

I also get to hangout with Joana, who quite literally makes everything shine. Joana sees colour in a very unique way and it's a genuine joy to see what she brings to the page. Never have I been so in tune with a fellow artist. Jim Campbell kindly agreed to do the letters for us and he's just a master of placement and subtlety. And of course, there's the legend that is Jim Valentino, the publisher who decided to run with it. Jim's always been very supportive of my work and it's a pleasure to be back at Shadowline with him.
Another plus is that I've also got to reconnect with some old Irish friends who are very kindly helping out in various ways, from gathering photo ref, to reading the odd script draft to make sure my dialogue is ringing true: "Fuck's Sake!" or "Fuck Sake!" you know, that kinda thing.

I don't wax lyrical too much on social media, but I'm very proud of this one and everyone involved.

Cheers!

THE HUNT

My new IMAGE BOOK, THE HUNT was announced at the IMAGE EXPO on Wednesday. I've been sitting on this for quite some time so it's great to finally get the word out there. I'm writing and drawing this one and just to add to the cool factor; it's set in Ireland!

Here's the solicit for the 1st issue:

story COLIN LORIMER
art / cover COLIN LORIMER & JOANA LAFUENTE
Letters JIM CAMPBELL

JULY 13
32 PAGES / FC / M
$3.99

Dream or reality? For a long time teenager Orla Roche couldn’t tell them apart, but now she knows the difference. THE HUNT is coming and its nightmare world of the restless dead will crash into hers. An intense story of survival, THE HUNT is a supernatural horror tale that will give Irish mythology a distinctly modern twist.

The bawdy world of Preacher collides with the nightmarish dreamscape of Insidious. Created by Colin Lorimer (Harvest)

 ----

I'm joined on this one by the esteemed, Joana Lafuente and, Jim Campbell. It's also great to be back once again with Jim Valentino at his SHADOWLINE imprint where I also did HARVEST.

Here's the first cover with some additional promotional art by Joana and myself:

I finally got around to making up a comic-con banner for myself.
