From the (in my opinion, completely unnecessary) remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. Then again aren't most remakes unnecessary? Well apart from Dawn of the Dead- I quite enjoyed that.
Gort this time around is three hundred foot tall- or thereabouts...

Having got to the end of my -thankfully- free copy, my review would be as follows:
Crap. Utterly and totally *carp -so crap I even took the time to purposely misspell the word "crap."
*Carp is also a common name for a freshwater fish of the family Cyprinidae. I was certainly not in any way trying to analogous a big fat bloated, vacuous, glass eyed bottom feeding type creature to the movie itself.

It came out here 2 days ago. I'm still wondering whether I should risk it or not. The original is one of my all time favs & I don't want to make the same mistake as I did with the remake of The Haunting of Hill House.
I'm also a bit worried about KR. Aside from the Matrix & My Own Private Idaho....he's killed every film I've ever seen him in. But then that might be because I still can't forgive him for Dracula.

Dunno about KR killing every film i have seen. Bill & teds (both) and point blank are excellent films. Although he does pretty much play the same character in all three...
I'll probably go see it, even though I do agree that it is probably an unnecessary remake.
Not as unneccessary as Haloween however.....I gave that one a swift manouver! How can you beat genius?

Not really worth checking out Fluff- has some interesting moments, but overall a pretty weak movie.
With KR it would have made more sense to have him dipped in silver paint and play the role of Gort-
Zombie's Halloween was complete sacrilege. I sat with my jaw hanging in disbelief at that one. Complete rubbish- Even Mcdowell (Who usually is worth a watch) was horrendous in it-
We also have the "reimagining" of The Thing to look forward to?! A remake of a remake.

What? Reimagining of the thing? Man....where is the freshness nowadays?
If they are gonna remake things why not go for films which they would have a reasonable chance of pulling off.
Like "The Hidden" or "brainscan" I liked both of those but havent really dated well.....

I think the most terrifying rumour I've heard of late is the possible remake of Night of the Demon. how shit is that going to be?
